On June 17th, 2023, I sat down for an aura reading at The Rock Shop. During the session, hands and muscles emerged as symbols. Hands represented journaling, my way of shaping thoughts into tangible creations. Muscles were a symbol that lingered far beyond that moment, though it wasn’t fully flushed out in the reading. The idea of muscles stayed with me, subtly growing in meaning as time passed.
Now, a year and 207 days later, hindsight has provided clarity. Symbols that seemed abstract then have gained depth as time has passed. It’s only with reflection that their meaning has fully unfolded. Hands? They remain the foundation, the act of writing, crafting, and creating. But muscles? That took longer to grasp—the voice, both metaphorical and literal, has become a central theme in my understanding.
A common oversight is forgetting that the voice—produced by the larynx—is, quite literally, a muscle. Like any muscle, it requires care, exercise, and intention to thrive. We often think of the voice as something that simply “happens,” but it’s the result of a coordinated effort: the diaphragm supports, the vocal cords vibrate, and the larynx shapes the sound. Without nurturing, it can falter—strained, fatigued, or even silenced. But when cared for, it becomes powerful, flexible, and capable of extraordinary expression. We often restrain our voice without realizing it, like a soft hold around the neck.
Recently, I’ve begun recording my blog posts. Speaking the words aloud has given them weight and resonance that writing alone couldn’t capture. Writing remains my foundation, but the voice has become the energy behind the words—a transformation from static to dynamic, much like makeup artistry. The hands deliver skill and precision, but the final look? That’s the voice. It’s where the expression, confidence, and story come to life.
At F.A.C.E. Makeup Artistry, this interplay between hands and voice is at the heart of what I do. A private makeup lesson isn’t just about technique; it’s about discovering the voice in your beauty routine. It’s about finding the colors, shapes, and textures that resonate with who you are and letting them express your story.
Are you nurturing your voice as much as your hands? Whether in the way you create, communicate, or carry yourself, balance is key. Your voice—like any muscle—holds the potential to inspire, connect, and express, but only if you give it the care it deserves.
Ready to explore this balance through beauty? Let’s start with your hands and uncover the power of your voice together.
