There’s this phrase that always makes me laugh, but also kind of hits deep:
“Help me help you help me help you.”
It sounds like a tongue-twister loop at first. But the more I sit with it, the more it perfectly sums up the magic that happens between a makeup artist and their client.
See, makeup on another is never a solo act. Even when I’m the one holding the brush, we’re in this together. I’m not just painting a face—I’m translating your preferences, your comfort zones, your wildest Pinterest dreams into something wearable, beautiful, and you.

I can’t do that without your voice in the process. I need to see your current makeup bag lineup—not to judge, but to understand your routine and build from there. I need to know what products your skin loves (or absolutely does not tolerate). I need to hear which features you want to play up, and which ones you’d rather downplay.
Then I take all that good info and work my magic to help you—crafting a look that fits your face, your lifestyle, your vibe. But while I’m doing that, your feedback (whether it’s a subtle “ehhh” eyebrow raise or a “can we go a little more peach?”) helps me refine and adjust in real-time. That’s the help you help me part.
Next time you sit in the beauty chair or book a private makeup lesson, know this:
I’m not here to give you a generic “one-size-fits-most” glam. I’m here to co-create.
Tell me your beauty goals. Show me your inspiration. Let me peek into your real life so I can give you real results.
Because when we do this dance together—when you help me help you help me help you—we both leave a little more radiant than we came in.
