Lent is traditionally a forty-day season of reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual growth. The practice of giving something up isn’t just about deprivation—it’s about making space for renewal. By temporarily letting go of something we are attached to, we gain a new perspective on our habits, our desires, and our relationship with the things we believe we “need.”

While many choose to give up sweets, caffeine, or social media, there’s an opportunity to approach Lent through the lens of beauty. What if, for a short time, you gave up something you’re attached to in your beauty routine? Maybe it’s wearing foundation every day, always doing your brows, or relying on filters before posting a photo. What would it feel like to step away from these rituals, even briefly, and see yourself in a new, unfiltered light?

This isn’t about rejecting beauty—it’s about discovering how much of it is already within you. Giving up a beauty habit, even temporarily, can invite deeper self-acceptance and remind you that your worth isn’t tied to a product or a perfected look. Instead, it’s an opportunity to see yourself with fresh eyes, to embrace your natural features, and perhaps even find a new level of confidence.

For a period of time, consider releasing an attachment in your beauty routine. Not as a punishment, but as a practice in self-awareness. Who knows? You may come out of it with a deeper appreciation for both the rituals you love and the beauty that exists beyond them.
