We all have our own beauty blunders. With the cosmetic industry churning out overwhelming & endless product options seasonally, it is no wonder women constantly seek out solutions for their makeup mishaps. During my Private Makeup Lessons, clients have long lists of makeup troubles they seek advice on that I trouble shoot for them. I’ve taken inventory…Here are a few popular makeup woes women express & how to help FIX them:

1. “Cakey” Foundation or Concealer

We all want our foundation & concealer to provide ample coverage. After all, that is the core purpose of these products . Often times, they can end up looking “cakey”. This is usually due to over-application of product. How can this situation be easily fixed or prevented? If you are using your fingers or a large foundation brush to apply the products, try switching over to a Beauty Blender sponge. When used damp, the sponge slightly soaks up the foundation or concealer product, and allows minimal application on the skin. Coverage can be built gradually on certain facial areas by “bouncing” (not swiping) the sponge onto the skin with an extra layer of product. Curious about how to focus on the under eyes that might need extra coverage? Introducing the Micro Mini Beauty Blender sponge to help target those smaller territories on the face.

2. Eyeshadow Creasing

We have places to go, things to do, and minimal time to look in the mirror to re-apply our eye makeup. We need our products to last long hours. The best way to prevent eyeshadow creasing is to use an eyelid primer underneath our eyeshadows. There are several on the market, and the primer of choice depends on the oiliness of the eyelids. The main purposes of an eyelid primer is to ensure long lasting eyeshadow payoff &  to prevent creasing. Applying the primer with a Synthetic Concealer Brush will allow proper & even product distribution.

3. Eyeshadow That Won’t Blend

Unblended eyeshadow is one of the most jarring and noticeable makeup faux pas. The key to seamlessly blended shadows, is to start with matte textures in neutral shades. Try not to use more than 3 shades on the eyes at any given time. Shimmer can be layered on top, if needed.

4. Uneven Brows

The truth about being human, is that nothing is 100% bilaterally symmetrical, including eyebrows. The popular saying “Eyebrows are sisters, not twins” best describes this. To achieve symmetrical brow shapes, hair removal (I recommend tweezing) coupled with filling in brows (pencil, cake, or powder) is necessary. An Angled Brow Brush will ensure even distribution of product in brow hairs.

5. Conquering Winged Eyeliner

Just thinking about attempting eyeliner makes most women cringe. And adding a flick or wing to the outer corners is equally intimidating. I was in the same boat, until I designed a miniature Detailed Liner Brush. Having a tiny angled tip to pull wax or gel product into a thin, crisp line makes the process significantly easier.
