Head Shots are an essential opportunity to portray one’s image or a reflection of a brand/company. Especially important for members in a corporate setting, a headshot should be professionally done, from the camera, to lighting, to hair + makeup. If we don’t appear to care about our own personal image, then why should our potential clients?
I think the most commonly overlooked factor of Head Shots are men thinking they don’t need any on-set grooming or color correcting makeup. It’s imperative to have a Makeup Artist/Groomer on set making sure the client’s ears don’t turn red (powerful lights), eyebrows remain in place, and they aren’t shiny (again, powerful lights). For women, the same situations apply, plus looking for any stray hairs, constantly touching up lipstick, and checking to make sure eyeshadow doesn’t crease.
