Am I Investing in What Makes Me Come Alive?

LISTEN TO BLOG POST

There’s a question I return to again and again, both in beauty and in life:
Am I investing in what makes me come alive?

It’s easy to fall into extremes with makeup and self-care. On one side, we can overindulge—chasing every new product launch, filling drawers with duplicates, hoping the next highlighter or lipstick will finally complete us. On the other side, we can cut ourselves off entirely—convincing ourselves that beauty is frivolous, that taking time to express ourselves through makeup is somehow vain or unnecessary.

But vitality—the spark that animates us—lives in the balance.

Makeup at its best embraces the selection of colors, textures, and rituals that remind us of who we are and who we’re becoming. Beauty is an investment in aliveness.

The real question isn’t whether beauty matters. It’s whether we’re engaging with it in a way that nurtures us. When we’re mindful, makeup becomes less about “fixing” and more about fueling. It’s less about keeping up, and more about catching up—with ourselves.

So next time you stand in front of your mirror, ask:

  • Is this step in my routine helping me feel more present?
  • Is this product helping me step into my day with energy, confidence, and connection?
  • Am I choosing this because it makes me come alive, or because I feel like I should?

Beauty, like life, shouldn’t dwell in excess or deprivation, but rather find the rituals and tools that keep our vitality intact.

Your vitality is worth investing in. And sometimes, that investment looks like a new lipstick. Other times, it looks like setting the brush down and realizing you’re already enough.
