There’s something irresistibly cinematic about scrawling a message on a mirror with lipstick. It can be a love note, threat, or truth.
In film and television, it’s iconic: American Horror Story, Black Swan, Butterfield. The mirror becomes a canvas and the lipstick becomes the pen.
Why do we do it? Because sometimes a thought is too urgent for paper and we would like to view our own expression while writing our message. Next time you’re tempted, go ahead. Write your mantra, mood, or line from your favorite song. Let the message meet your eyes. Then wipe it away—or don’t.
