For better or worse, our daily habits greatly dictate life outcomes. How we compose our homes to support our daily routines is imperative. Every room matters. Every zone within each room serves a purpose. Mise en place is a French kitchen phrase that means “putting in place” or “gathering.” Mise en place is an essential practice to learn. This prepping habit is infused into education during the signature private makeup lessons at F.A.C.E.
The makeup table is its own region in the home and it should provide what the individual needs from it.
When there’s a place for everything, and everything is in place at the makeup station, productive beauty routines can compound and extend into a vital life force.
USEFUL MAKEUP TABLE SYSTEMS
Lighting: Face table towards natural light, or have lighted mirror that beams around face.
Avoid relying on mere overhead lighting.
Cleanliness: Make sure mirror is streak-free.
Clean brushes and sponges after every use. Using dirty tools is unhygienic and provides a poor application. Use a quick-dry brush cleaner and keep roll of paper towels on table to make habit easy, painless, and fast.
Routinely toss expired products.
Keep trash bin under makeup table. Remove garbage frequently.
Order: Keep tools in brush roll or cup for ease of locating. Trim stray brush hairs. Brushes with different color handles provide quick recognition. Store powder products in refillable compact vessels.
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Your goal is your desired outcome. Your system is the collection of daily habits that will get you there.”
-James Clear
