The Makeup Show: Chicago

A week ago I made the trek to Chicago to attend one of the country’s biggest beauty trade shows dedicated solely to makeup: The Makeup Show. Last year I attended the one in NYC, but this year I grazed the Chicago location at the Bridgeport Art Center.

The Show dates were on June 9th & 10th (a Sunday & and Monday) but I worked setting up for the Eve Pearl Booth on Saturday. I met a lovely group of women in the set up crew, along with 5-time Emmy Award winner Eve Pearl herself!

The actual show dates consisted of Products being sold at discounted prices, keynote speeches by the industry’s top artists, and demos on the latest techniques and methodologies.

They keynote speeches are what really motivated me and what resonated with where I am in my career. Nothing comes easy. And everything requires a positive attitude and extremely hard work ethic.

My 2 favorite keynote speakers were Eve Pearl & Sian Richards. Both of them had amazing advice, and interesting enough similar “main things to remember”:

  1. Don’t harp on the past (mistakes, missed opportunities, etc)
  2. Live in the NOW. Take every experience in. Good or Bad. NOW is all we have.
  3. Prepare for the future, but don’t look to it.
